On 18 September 2015, Mrs. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General of Thailand, together with other Consuls-General of ASEAN member countries in Vancouver namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam, called on Mr. Gregor Robertson, Mayor of Vancouver, to enhance further cooperation between ASEAN and the City of Vancouver. On this occasion, Consul-General Sutthiluck informed the Mayor of numerous projects carried out by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver this year such as the 2nd Thailand Festival at Vancouver Art Gallery between 4-5 July 2015 and Thailand Corner at Vancouver Public Library between 17 July – 3 August 2015. The Consul-General also extended an invitation to the Mayor or his representative to participate in all future projects and activities of the Royal Thai Consulate-General. In this connection, the Mayor expressed his appreciation to Consul-General Sutthiluck and all ASEAN Consuls-General in Vancouver for their continued dedication to the promotion of cordial ties and cooperation between ASEAN and the City of Vancouver. Mayor Robertson emphasized the importance of ASEAN as Gateway to the Asia-Pacific region. He also informed the ASEAN Consuls-General of his intention to visit ASEAN member countries in the future.
During the meeting, the ASEAN Consuls-General proposed a co-organization of trade and investment seminar between the City of Vancouver and the ASEAN member countries as well as the establishment of ASEAN Community Center or Community Centers of ASEAN member countries in Vancouver. On these regards, the City of Vancouver accepted to kindly consider the said proposals.
