On 26 January 2017, Ms. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General of Thailand, accompanied by Mr. Narat Vidyananda, Deputy Consul-General, met with Dr. Dan Ryan, Acting President, and Vice President of Academic and Provost of University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), and the executive team to promote education and research cooperation between Thailand and Western Canada. The two sides agreed to jointly explore the possibility of establishing a memorandum of understanding, organizing an exchange program for professors, researchers and students, and setting up a dual degree program or an online learning program between UNBC and a Thai university, etc. On this occasion, the university also arranged a visit to the UNBC’s BioEnergy Plant for the Consul-General. This plant generated approximately 85% of an annual energy needed by the university from clean energy of steam power.
